Crowdbase does not handle your money alone. Payments run through regulated institutions, and this page tells you which ones and what each does.

Who processes payments

Where the money sits

Investor funds are held in a segregated account with Eurobank Cyprus, a credit institution authorised under Directive 2013/36/EU.

Segregated means the account is held separately from the money Crowdbase uses to run its own business, and your funds are identified as client funds both in our records and in the bank’s. We do not use that money for our own purposes.

Under Article 10(2) of Regulation (EU) 2020/1503, funds relating to payment transactions in these instruments must be deposited with a central bank or with a credit institution authorised under Directive 2013/36/EU. Ours are held with Eurobank Cyprus.

Money only moves against an order

We do not hold idle balances. Money reaches the segregated account against an investment order, and not otherwise. If money reaches us that we cannot match to an order, we return it.

Getting your money back

If you cancel within your four day reflection period, or a campaign does not go ahead, your money is returned to the account you paid from. We do not send it anywhere else, because a payment to a different account is a third party payment and our anti money laundering rules do not allow it without separate checks.

Who holds your instruments

Crowdbase Ltd holds no client financial instruments itself.

On campaigns structured through a nominee, legal title to the instruments is held by Crowdbase Nominee Services Limited (Cyprus HE464742), a company in the Prudens Limited group, and you hold the beneficial interest. The Nominee is the registered owner, keeps the register of legal titles, and passes distributions through to you. It exercises no discretion of its own. You can see your certificate of beneficial ownership in your profile.

Where a campaign is not structured through a nominee, you are registered directly and the campaign documentation says so.
